Avon Timber Celebrates 10th Annual Charity Golf Day

Avon Timber Celebrates 10th Annual Charity Golf Day

We’re proud to share that our 10th Annual Charity Golf Day, held at Stoneleigh Deer Park Golf Club on Thursday 31st July, raised £10,000 for local charity Evelyn’s Gift which takes the total raised through this annual event over the past decade to more than £60,000.

As a family-run timber merchant based in Coventry, we’ve always placed strong value on supporting our local community. Since our first charity golf day in 2014, it has grown into a key event in our calendar, bringing together our suppliers, customers and our staff members for a fun day of golf and fundraising to support worthy causes.

This year’s event welcomed 76 players and 26 sponsors, with £6,200 raised on the day. To mark our 10th year milestone, we were delighted to round the total up to £10,000 in support of Evelyn’s Gift.

Founded by Helen Smith in memory of her daughter Evelyn, who tragically passed away in 2013 at just seven years old, Evelyn’s Gift provides essential support to people in crisis across Coventry and Warwickshire - from bereavement assistance to emergency supplies for families fleeing domestic violence. The charity also works to raise awareness of CPR training and the importance of community care.

Mark Woolerton, Procurement Manager at Avon Timber and organiser of the event, said: “Supporting Evelyn’s Gift this year felt especially meaningful - not only because they’re also celebrating 10 years of making a difference, but because the work they do directly helps people in our community. We know every pound raised goes straight to those in crisis, and it’s that local impact that really matters to us. It’s been a privilege to see how much this fundraising event has grown over the years, and to bring people together for a day that’s not just about golf but about giving back.”

Over the past decade, our charity golf day has helped raise funds for a number of fantastic causes, including Myton Hospice, Zoe’s Place, the Alzheimer’s Society and Macmillan Cancer Support. Each charity has a personal connection to our team or customers, which makes the event all the more special.

“Giving back has always been important to us as a business,” added Steve Lomasney, Managing Director of Avon Timber. “We’re incredibly proud of the total raised and grateful to everyone who’s supported the event over the years. None of it would be possible without the continued generosity of our customers, suppliers and sponsors.”

We’d like to thank all participants, sponsors and supporters for making the 10th annual event such a success.
