White Primed MDF

MDF Door Linings

Click here to scroll to the products.

Our White Primed MDF linings form an integral part of the internal door frame, and while not being overly visible from either side of the doorway, play a major role in ensuring that the door can open and close seamlessly, smoothly, and easily.

To put it simply, a door lining sits on the inside of a door opening, and is made up of a top strip and two vertical strips which are set on the inside of the door opening.

One of the reasons why so many customers choose MDF door linings in particular is because the material can be primed, painted, and finished with your ideal colour palette or texture in mind. Our linings are machined from MDF, come complete with doorstop (also known as slamming strips) and are white primed for a smooth clean finish.

Why choose MDF?

MDF is a good choice for interior details thanks to its lightweight and affordable construction, as well as the versatile nature of MDF in terms of colour, finish, and thickness.

We use MDF across many of our bespoke door liners to help homeowners to achieve a clean finish with minimal costs and without impeding on the space required to fit both single and double door sets.

MDF Door Linings FAQs
Are white primed MDF linings a good choice?

In terms of versatility, MDF is an ideal material when creating a door liner because it combines a smooth finish with high level durability.

Our moisture resistant MDF linings (which form our standard offering) are well suited to doorways throughout the house because it is designed to withstand high humidity levels, meaning it does not easily get affected by damp and moisture in the air.

What are the main factors to consider when buying a white MDF door lining?

Because MDF can be adapted to suit many situations, the choice between grooved and un-grooved linings empower homeowners to select the best suited lining for their home setting. Pairing an intumescent strip to our grooved lining sets provides a safe and effective barrier against the passage of fire, smoke and hot gases.

Some other things to consider when selecting your door lining include the various door sizes, whether you need a single set or double set of liners, and whether the aesthetic suitable for the space. Ask us for a quote if you do require a large head for your lining set.

What is the benefit of door linings and, in particular, MDF fire door linings?

Door linings act as a buffer between the door and the wall opening itself, helping the door to open and close smoothly. In addition, door linings are an excellent way to help prevent odours and damp from the kitchen or bathroom seeping out and around a closed door - with MDF being one of the best materials for both uses.

More and more homeowners are installing MDF fire check (grooved) door linings with intumescent strips for protection from fire and smoke, as part of their health and safety precautions at home (For a total fire protection solution, our linings will need coating with intumescent paint, which can be obtained from a Fire Protection specialist.), the growth in use of MDF is partly due to how versatile the product is and the fact this it is resistant to warping and cracking, thus adding to its reliability with safety in mind.

What is the difference between an Internal MDF Door Lining and an MDF Door Frame?

An internal door lining is not the same as a complete internal door frame - rather, the MDF door lining is just one part. The other parts of an MDF door frame include door stops, hinges, latches and architraves. A complete internal door frame presents a clean finish to help the door open and close smoothly without snagging or getting stuck.

You will generally only notice the lining of your door if you stop midway between the two rooms and look up and around you.

Here at Avon Timber, we offer a bespoke service which allows homeowners to select not just the right width for their doorways but also to select whether they need a single set for a single door, or a double door set of MDF liners.
