Pine Door Lining

Pine, also known as Unsorted Redwood, is an exceptional softwood timber for interior home joinery, offering both integrity and aesthetic appeal. Pine door linings, sometimes incorrectly known as pine door frames, combine practicality with elegance, making them an ideal fixing for modern home design.

Selecting the right material for your door linings is crucial. You need a durable, versatile option that can endure over time while allowing doors to open and close smoothly. Our Pine door linings provide these advantages, and they are machined to a smooth finish, ensuring a seamless fit and long-lasting performance.

The primary function of a door lining is to cover exposed brick or wall areas and provide a framed structure to house the door. Our solid timber door linings are crafted in-house from top-quality softwood, available in both 15x4mm grooved (to accommodate an intumescent strip) and ungrooved sets, and with a doorstop, the set comes together to form a complete door casing.

Your internal softwood door lining can be delivered straight to you, we cover all of the UK.

As a family-operated timber merchant, we take pride in sharing our expertise with customers to ensure you find exactly what you need. For more information on our bespoke internal softwood door linings or to have any of your questions answered, please contact the Avon Timber team directly.

Pine Door Linings FAQs
Benefits and Comparison of Fitting Pine Door Linings

Fitting pine door linings offers numerous benefits, making them a popular choice for homeowners. Pine is favoured for its aesthetic appeal and strength, enhancing any interior style from modern to traditional or period properties in the UK. The versatility of this high-quality softwood, whether painted or varnished, makes it suitable for various housing styles and types.

Compared to other door lining materials, pine stands out for several reasons. It is known for its affordability, light weight, and ease of installation. Our wooden door linings provide a classic look that complements various interior styles. Despite being cost-effective, pine is durable, making it an excellent choice for homeowners looking for a balance between quality and budget.

What thickness should my timber door lining be?

At Avon Timber, we recommend a thickness of 32mm (27mm finished size) for pine door linings. For different thicknesses or bespoke lining sets, such as for double doors, please email or speak directly with our team for guidance.

What widths are available for my softwood door lining, and can I request bespoke widths?

The width of our door linings are available in various standard nominal options such as 100mm, 125mm, 150mm and 175mm. These different widths cater to different door sizes, exposed brickwork etc, providing flexibility and customisation options for your home décor needs. For different width requirements, you can make a request via email or speak directly with our friendly team for guidance on your specific requirements.

What is the difference between a wooden door frame and an internal door lining?

A timber door frame usually refers to an external door frame, typically made of hardwood, and includes a threshold at the bottom, hence it frames the door on all four sides.

A pine door lining, intended for internal use, consists of three pieces: the head which sits across the top of the door, the two legs which vertically line either side of the door and the stops. Both the frame and the door lining serve to conceal brickwork and provide a structure for hanging the door.
