Since timber is a natural product, each section may contain a different grain pattern, natural figuring, and some small pin knots. Additionally, it's important to consider the potential for imperfections such as split or splintered ends. To accommodate these imperfections and ensure you have the necessary length for your project, we advise allowing for approximately 300mm of extra length beyond the actual usable length. This extra length provides a buffer to trim off any ends that may not meet your quality standards, ensuring that you can work with the highest quality sections of timber for your specific needs.
By accounting for this additional length, you can better manage the inherent variability in timber and achieve a more precise and aesthetically pleasing result in your woodworking projects.
